The G.M.A.A. held their annual championships this Thursday Februrary 16th at the Kanawhake Survival School.  Schools from around the island of Montreal competed against each other in tournament in order to see who would become this year's champion.  The local highschools function as a feeder system for the various clubs around Quebec and have produced many national medalists throughout the years.

VMC vs. Loyola at the finals

The tournament features a Boys and Girls division and uses the points accumulated from the regular season plus the points from medals won to determine a champion.  In the boys division, the defending champions Loyola High School finished off the regular season undefeated with a 7-0 record for a total of 14 points.  In a three way tie for second with 10 points was Selwyn House school, Kanawhake Survival School and Vincent Massey Collegiate.   On the Girls side, the Kanawhake Survival School continued their strong perfomance from last year by finishing off the season undefeated with a record of 5-0, followed by Beurling Academy (4-1) and Vincent Massey Collegiate (3-2).

For the Outstanding Wrestlers, Samuel Rainville from Heritage Regional Highschool won for the boys while Erin Rainville also from Heritage Regional Highschool won on the girls side.  The overall G.M.A.A. Champions for the boys were Loyola Highschool and the G.M.A.A. Champions for the girls was KSS.  The G.M.A.A. Finals was a good tournament considering that many schools that competed this year were not present last year due to the "Work to Rule" that was in effect last year.  Congratulations must go to the overall league champions, Loyola Highschool and KSS as well as the Outstanding wrestlers and individual medal winners.
