Quebec finishes strong at the Canada East Wrestling Festival

The Canada East Wrestling Festival took place this past weekend in Moncton New Brunswick.  The Canada East Wrestling Festival function's as a miniature national championships for eastern Canada which includes Ontario, Quebec, Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.  The age categories range from Kids, Novice and Bantam in both Boys and Girls.

CLIC, KSS, Massey Vanier, the Montreal YMHA and les Patriotes de St-Cesaire sent representatives to the competition and the results were quite strong.  In the Kids division wrestling for KSS, Karonhiakeshon  Jacobs finished in 4th at 30.8 kgs while Jordyn Goodleaf (43 kgs Girls) and Stone McGregor (21 kgs) both won Gold.  From les Patriotes de St-Cesaire, Benjamin Paré (46.5 kgs), Salomon Lacasse (34.4 kgs), Jacob Jutras (35.9 kgs) and Thomas Gagnon (43.7 kgs) all won Silver medals in their divisions while Nathan Rainville (34.4 kgs), Cristobal De La Cortina (35.9 kgs), Rose Forgues (33.7 kgs Girls) and Cazian Comeau-Elman (31 kgs) won Gold medals in their divisions.  Les Patriotes de St-Cesaire finished off the competition second overall in the Kids Boys division.

In the Bantam division wrestling for CLIC, Louis Taliana (54.3 kgs) David Gauthier (66 kgs) and Bilele Mahfoudhi (76.5 kgs) all won Bronze medals while wrestling for KSS, Sabrina Montour (49 kgs Girls) Rotetshrnhatie McComber (75 kgs) and Tharonhienhawitha Cross (72.7 kgs) finished 5th.  Wrestling for the Montreal YMHA, Artur Hovhannisyan took Bronze in the 58.9 kgs division while Ilie Dragoman won Gold at 71.6 kgs.  Wrestling for Massey Vanier High School, Charles Blanchard took home a Silver medal at 51.6 kgs.  From les Patriotes de St-Cesaire, William Tougas (49.4 kgs) and Nathan Germain (49.3 kgs) finished in 5th place while Isaac Lacasse (50.5 kgs) finished 4th.  Christophe Tremblay wrestling at the 37.9 kgs division won a Bronze medal while Camille Dubuc took home a Silver medal in the 59.9 kgs Girls division.  Rounding out the results for les Patriotes de St-Cesaire, Yann Heymug (59.6 kgs) and Mathis Rainville (74.3 kgs) both won Gold medals in their respective divisions.  Due to these strong results, les Patriotes de St-Cesaire also finished off in second place as a team in the Bantam Boys division.

For a small wrestling province, the results were fantastic and congratulations have to go out to all the clubs and especially les Patriotes de St-Cesaire for their fine team and individual performances this past weekend.
