To be able to participate in the World Team Qualifiers, athletes must have competed at the Canadian National Championships in either 2016 or 2017 and placed in the 6 in the official Olympic weight classes or have placed in the top 3 in the Non-Olympic weight classes.  Quebec sent athletes to compete at the World Team Trials  in both the Mens 70 kgs and the Womens 60 kgs and results were quite good.  From the Montreal YMHA, Linda Morais won her weight class at 60 kgs in impressive fashion with a Technical Fall and qualifies her weight.  Linda will now join fellow Quebec athlete and World Team member Jordan Steen at the World Championships!

The Canada Cup was also held on this same weekend in Guelph and is one of Canada's most recognized international tournaments.  Athletes from the Montreal YMHA competed against some good international competition and the results were the following.  At 60 kgs Womens Linda Morais overcame a tough start to the competition to take home a Silver medal while at the 125 kgs Mens division, Frederique Choquette won the Bronze medal.  Congratulations to our athletes on their strong performances this weekend!
