The 2017 Maccabiah Games

The 2017 Maccabiah Games took place in Beer-Sheva, Israel on Sunday July the 9th for Mens Freestyle wrestling.  The Maccabiah Games takes place once every four years and has sometimes been referred to as the "Jewish Olympics" as it is the largest multisport event for Jewish athletes around the world.  Quebec athletes comprised the majority for the Canadian Maccabiah team as Dylan Mclean, Gabriel Choueke, Aron Orzack and Sam Barmish along with coach David Zilberman from the Montreal YMHA were there to represent Canada.

In the 61 kgs weight class, Gabriel Choueke won a Bronze Medal while Sam Barmish rounded out the results with a Silver medal at 74 kgs.  Dylan Mclean (7th at 57 kgs) and Aron Orzack (4th at 74 kgs) rounds out the results.  Congratulations to our Jewish Quebec athletes at this years Maccabiah Games!
