Quebec athletes representing team Eastern Door and the North finished their competition this past week at the 2017 North American Indigenous Games.  Athletes from KSS and the Montreal YMHA came away with several medals and the results were as follows:

Wenhniseriiostha Goodleaf with the Bronze Medal 

Stella McComber wins Bronze!

Jason Luneau wins Gold! 

From KSS in the Girls division, Kennikahontesha Norton Montour won a Silver Medal at 65 kgs while Stella McComber (70 kgs) and Wenhniseriiostha Goodleaf (90 kgs) both took home Bronze Medals in their respective divisions.  Rounding out the top five results, Lakota Glen placed 5th at 70 kgs.

In the Boys division from KSS, Nick Styres wrestling at 84 kgs won a Gold Medal while Tehatokekehntha McComber took home a Bronze Medal at 130 kgs. FInally the last of the medal winners for the boys, wrestling for the Montreal YMHA, Jason Luneau won a Gold medals at 50 kgs.  Other Top Five Finishers for the Boys included Karontaa Regis 5th at 63 kgs, Joseph Standup 5th at 69 kgs, Kye Diabo 4th at 76 kgs and Jersey McGowan 5th at 115 kgs all representing KSS

As a team, Team EDN placed fourth amongst the Boys with 29 points, narrowly missing out of the top 3 by a point (British Columbia finished with 30 points).  A congratulations must go out to Peter Montour and his coaching staff (Angel Robertson and Otiohkwanoron Montour) for their tremendous job at this years North American Indigenous Games!
