Coach David Zilberman led a contingent of Jewish Canadian athletes to compete at this year's Maccabiah Games held in Ashdod, Israel.  Though the results weren't as high as expected, the tournament served as a valuable learning experience for these young men.  David also accepted a plaque from the Chairman of the Israeli Wrestling Federation, Leonid Shulman on behalf of his father, Victor Zilberman for both his continued support and for helping Israeli wrestler Ilana Kartysh to win a Silver Medal at this years European Championships.

In addition to that, four Quebec athletes competed in the first Open Kids tournament held at the same time as the Maccabiah Games.  Nathan Palayew took home a Gold medal in the Cadet 50 kgs class while Alex Moore also captured Gold in the 58 kgs category.  Sam Barmish was aslo successful taking home a Gold medal in the 69 kgs Cadet category while Francis Carter took home a Silver Medal at the 76 kgs Cadet division.
