Members Concordia University and Montreal YMHA competed at the McMaster Invitational held in Hamilton Ontario.  Results were good as Jade Dufour at 48 kgs and Linda Morais at 63 kgs won Gold Medals for Concordia University.  Veronica Keefe of the Montreal YMHA rounds out the results for the Girls winning Gold at 82 kgs.

 

On the Mens side, competing for the Montreal YMHA; Trevor Banks wrestling at 54 kgs, Scott Schiller at 61 kgs, Jordan Steen at 90kgs, Ali Al Rekabi at 100 kgs and Ali Al Rekabi at 130 kgs all won Gold medals in their divisions while Vince De Marinnis was Concordia's lone representative, winning a Silver Medal at 61 kgs.

November 26-28 2015

 

The week of November 28th was an extremely busy one for wrestling clubs in Quebec as there were four different tournaments happening on the weekend.  On Thursday, November 26th, members of Vanier College competed in the Beamsville High School Invitational.  The results were very good as all members of the team, coached by Victor Zilberman took home Gold Medals in the following weight divisions:


Gold Medal Kaya Dube Snow 58.5 kgs

Gold Medal Laurence Beauregard 62 kgs

Gold Medal Dylan McLean 62 kgs 

Gold Medal Aly Barghout 131 kgs

 

On Saturday November 28th, the annual Quebec Open featured wrestlers from nearly all the clubs in Quebec as well as participation from clubs in Ontario.  In total, one hundred and sixty wrestlers competed in various age groups ranging from Pewee to Junior. 

 

At the Windsor High School Invitational, Vanier College also had another clean sweep as Kaya Dube Snow wrestling at 58.5 kgs, Laurence Beauregard wrestling at 62 kgs, Dylan McLean wrestling 62 kgs and finally Aly Barghout at 131 kgs, all took home Gold Medals.  The tournament fielded a very competitive group of athletes as there were 250 participants competing that weekend.

 

Rounding out the weekend results at the Senior and University Divisions, Concordia University, Montreal YMHA and Vanier College sent representatives the the York University Open, held in Toronto Ontario.  Competing for Concordia in the Mens Division, Trevor Banks wrestling at 54 kgs,  Vince de Marinis at 65 kgs and Dima Gershanov wrestling at 76 kg all won Gold medals in their respective divisions.  

 

Competing in the Womens Division, Jade Dufour wrestling at 48 kgs and Therese El-Lati at 82 kgs both won Gold medals while Genevieve Lamarche took home a Silver medal at 72 kgs.

 

For the Montreal YMHA, Guseyn Ruslanzada won a Gold medal at 68 kgs while Dajinder Singh took home a Bronze medal at 68 kgs.

 

Rounding out the weekends results from Vanier College, Francis Carter (65 kgs), Sam Barmish (76 kgs) and Frederick Choquette (100 kgs) all took home Silver medals from the tournament.
