A busy weekend to kick off the New Year

The New Years began with a series of tournaments held in Ontario as members from various Quebec clubs competed in tournaments in Ottawa and St-Catherines

 

At the National Capital Tournament held in Ottawa, CLIC, KSS, Montreal YMHA, Les Patriotes de St-Cesaire, Vanier College and the Westwood Crazy Dogs all sent representatives to the tournament.  The tournament fields different age groups and had a good variety of competition for all levels and age groups.

 

From CLIC; Thomas Risk took home a Gold medal while Ayoub Bencherif, Ibrahim Gungor, Cezr Toma and Christopher Merlo all took Silver Medals.

Competing for KSS, Kanerahtens Bush (57.5 kgs Junior) and Stella Mccomber (67-72 kgs Bantam Girls) both won Gold Medals while Winter Goodleaf (37 kgs Bantam Girls), Jordan Goodleaf (44 kgs Bantam Girls), Tekanekake Stacey (67-72 kgs Bantam Girls), Kaweniestha Kirby (51 kgs Junior Girls), Kawennihtha Kirby (77 kgs Juvenile Girls), Angel Robertson (72 kgs Junior Girls) and Brandon Brascoup (66 kgs Juvenile Boys) all won Silver Medals.  

Rounding out the results for KSS, Nick Styres (83 kgs Juvenile Boys), Jersey McGowan (UNL Cadet Boys), Tiakotierenton Diabo (56-57.5 kgs Cadet Girls), Kennikahontehsa Montour (61-64 kgs Cadet Girls) and Stone McGregor (38 kgs Kids)

 

From the Montreal YMHA Natael Cantin-Lebrun (63 kgs) and Jaskaran Singh (72 kgs Open) won Gold at while Luca Ioannone (72 kgs Cadet Boys), Henri Lajeunesse (83 kgs Juvenile Boys) and Jonathan Campagnolo (100 kgs Juvenile Boys) won Silver medals

 

From St-Cesaire, Erin Rainville  (56-57.5 kgs Cadet Girls) won Silver while Jose de la Curtina (57.5 kgs Bantam Boys), Samuel Rainville (72 kgs Cadet Boys) and Julien Choquette (83 kgs Juvenile Boys) all took home Gold Medals.

 

From Vanier College, Dylan Maclean (61 kgs), Aly Barghout (115 kgs) and Alexandria Campbell (72-82 kgs Open Female) all took home Gold Medals in their respective divisions while Aron Orzack took home a Silver medal at 72 kgs Open.

 

Finally, from Westwood, Lauren Minns (64-67.5 kgs Junior Girls), Mackenzie Wilson (61-64 kgs Cadet Girls) and Brandon Hebert (100 kgs Juvenile Boys) all won Gold Medals.

Congratulations to all our young athletes!

 

In St-Catherines Ontario, Wrestlers from Concordia, the Montreal YMHA and Vanier College competed at the annual Brock Invitational.  The tournament features both club and University teams from Canada and the United States.  Competing for Concordia, Jade Dufour wrestling at 48 kgs Women won Gold while Trevor Banks (54 kgs Men) and Vince De Marinis (65 kgs Men), both representing Concordia University also took home Gold Medals.  Rounding out the Gold Medal count was Ali Al-Rekabi at 100 kgs Men representing Montreal YMHA.

 

Taking home Bronze Medals, Francis Carter (65 kgs Men) and Petr Prokopiev (82 kgs Men) from Concordia and Guseyn Ruslanzada (68 kgs Men) from the Montreal YMHA all represented their clubs with their strong performances.
