Results from the Matteo Pellicone Memorial 2016

In Sassari City Italy, the annual Matteo Pellicone Memorial tournament took place.  This tournament featured many Canadian Clubs and many athletes from the province of Quebec competing at both the Junior and Senior levels and in the Mens and Womens divisions.

At 74 kgs, Alex Moore from the Montreal YMHA won his division by beating another Canadian Mutuku Irenge by Technical Fall with score of 10-0 to claim the Gold Medal.  At 84- kgs, Sam barmish, also wrestling for the Montreal YMHA lost a close final to Italy's Raffi William by a score of 4-1 to win a Silver Medal.  Finally, at the Junior Mens 120 kgs category, Frederique Choquette (Patriotes de St-Cesaire) beat Aly Barghout (Montreal YMHA) by a score of 5-1 to claim the Gold Medal in an All-Quebec final.  In the Junior Womens category, Quebec's lone medalist, Jade Dufour from the Montreal YMHA pinned her opponent, Elis Savalle from France to claim the Bronze Medal at 51 kgs.

In the Senior Mens Division, Scott Schiller from the Montreal YMHA beat fellow Canadian Josh Bodnarchuk by Technical Fall with a score of 10-0 to win the Gold Medal at 61 kgs while at 65 kgs, Vincent De Marinnis also from Montreal YMHA beat Nicolle Remi of France by a score of 12-2 to also win a Gold Medal at 65 kgs.  Finally at 120 kgs Yak Al Rekabi (Montreal YMHA) won the Silver Medal while Vincent Frechette (Montreal YMHA) took home the Bronze.  In the Senior Womens Division, Linda Morais lost a competitive match to Shoovdor Baatarjay of Mongalia by a score of 11-7 to win the Silver Medal at 60 kgs.
