Quebec cleans up at three tournaments on the weekend

Three tournaments took place this previous weekend and Quebec wrestlers excelled in all three tournaments.  Wrestlers from CLIC, Montreal YMHA, les Patriotes de St-Cesaires and Vanier College competed at the Bishop Ryan Early Bird Tournament, the Sudbury Highschool Tournament and the York University Open Tournament and the results were the following:

At the Bishop Ryan Early Bird Tournament, Quebec had virtually a clean sweep as wrestlers from the Montreal YMHA, les Patriotes de St-Cesaire and Vanier College came home with an almost complete Gold performance.  Wrestling from Montreal YMHA were Marius Samson at 47.5 kgs, Jason Luneau 51 kgs, Nicolae Gandrabura 54 kgs, Nataël Lebrun-Cantin 61 kgs. Jaskaran Singh 72 kgs and Alexia Sherland 77 kgs who all won Gold Medals.  From les Patriotes de St-Cesaire Erin Rainville took a Silver Medal at 56 kgs while Samuel Rainville also won a Silver medal at 67.5 kgs.  Rounding out the strong performance from Vanier College were Aaron Orszak 76 kgs, Julien Choquette 83 kgs, Jonathan Campagnolo 95 kgs,  Kaya Dubé Snow 56 kgs and Alexandria Campbell 72 kgs with their Gold Medal performances.

At the Sudbury Highschool Tournament, the results were equally good as Quebec wrestlers also swept their respective categories.  Clubs representing the Montreal YMHA, les Patriotes de St-Cesaire and Vanier College also competed at this tournament.  Wrestling for the Montreal YMHA, Ilie Dragomir in the Bantam Boys 65 kgs division, Marius Samson in the Cadet Boys 47.5 kgs division, Jason Luneau in the Cadet Boys 51 kgs division, Nicolae Gandrabura in the Cadet Boys 54 kgs division,  Nataël Lebrun-Cantin in the Highschool Boys 61 kgs division, Jaskaran Singh in the Highschool Boys 72 kgs division and Alexia Sherland in the 77 kgs Highschool Girls division all won Gold Medals while with equally impressive results, Samuel Rainville in the Highschool Boys 67.5 kgs division and Erin Rainville in the 54 kgs Highschool Girls division, competing for les Patriotes de St-Cesaire both won Gold Medals as well.  Rounding out the results for Quebec, Aaron Orszak in the 77 kgs Highschool Boys division, Julien Choquette in the 83 kgs Highschool Boys division, Jonathan Campagnolo in the Highschool 89 kgs Boys division, Kaya Dube Snow 57.5 kgs Highschool Girls division and Alexandria Campbell in the 72 kgs Highschool Girls division, from Vanier College all won Gold Medals as Quebec completed their clean sweep for highschool tournaments this weekend.

Team Quebec

At the York Univeristy Open, CLIC, Concordia University, Montreal YMHA and Vanier college sent wrestlers and the results were the following:

On the Womens side from Concordia University, Jade Dufour won a Silver Medal at the 51 kgs division while from Vanier College, Laurence Beauregard (55 kgs) and Amanda Savard (69 kgs) also won Silver Medals.  On the Mens side from Concordia University, Francis Carter took a Bronze Medal at 65 kgs while Vincent De Marinis (68 kgs) and Frederique Choquette (120 kgs) won Gold at their respective Divisions.  Rounding out the results for Concordia, Kyle Price placed 4th at 82 kgs.

From the Montreal YMHA, Trevor Banks (54 kgs) and Gabriel Choueke (61 kgs) both won Gold medals while Hamed Rowshani (100 kgs) and Aly Barghout (120 kgs) took home Silver Medals in their respective divisions.  Rounding out the results for the Montreal YMHA, Dima Gershanov (74 kgs) and Jeremy Poirier (90 kgs)  placed fourth.  The final wrestler from Quebec, Haiden Parizeau of CLIC placed 6th at 72 kgs.
