Another busy weekend for Quebec Clubs

This past weekend, Quebec Clubs competed in tournaments on both sides of Eastern Canada.  CLIC, Concordia University, KSS, the Montreal YMHA, les Patriotes de St-Cesaire and Vanier College sent athletes to the Western Invitational (held in London Ontario), the Eastern Canadian Canadian Championships and the UNB Invitational (both held in Fredericton New Brunswick).  The results were quite strong as the Quebec clubs came back with an impressive medal haul for the weekend.

 

The Western Invitational

At the Western Invitational wrestling for Concordia University, Frederique Choquette (120 kgs) Jade Dufour (51 kgs Womens division) both took Silver medals.  Wrestling for the Montreal YMHA, Trevor Banks (54 kgs) Guseyn Ruslanzada (72 kgs) and Linda Morais (63 kgs Womens division) all took Gold in their respective divisions while Gabriel Choueke placed second at 61 kgs.  From Vanier College, Alex Moore (84 kgs) and Aly Barghout (120 kgs) won Gold while Dylan Maclean (57 kgs), Aron Orzack (76 kgs) and Amanda Savard (67 kgs Womens division) won Silver Medals.  Taking home Bronze medals for Vanier College were Sam Barmish (84 kgs) and Laurence Beauregard (54 kgs Womens division).  Vanier placed second in the Teams standings on both the Mens and Womens sides.  Montreal YMHA placed third in the Mens division.

UNB Invitational

At the UNB Invitational, Concordia, Montreal YMHA and Vanier College sent athletes to the competition.  The UNB Invitational is the premier tournament for the University of New Brunswick.  From Concordia University, Dima Gershanov (72 kgs) and Jeremy Poirier (100 kgs) took Gold at while Kyle Pryce won Silver at 82 kgs.  From the Montreal YMHA Alexia Sherland won Gold at 77 kgs while Nariman Irankhan won Silver at 90 kgs.  Wrestling for Vanier College Kaya Dube-Snow won Gold at 56 kgs while Alexandria Campbell won Silver at 77 kgs.

The Eastern Canadian Championsips

For the Eastern Canadian Championsips, Club de Lutte Minotauro, Montreal YMHA, les Patriotes de St-Cesaire and Vanier College sent athletes to the competition.  The number and the competition level were quite good as many Quebec athletes faced some top flight competition in their age and weight divisions.  From the Montreal YMHA, The Gold Medal winners were the following: Jaskaran Singh (72 kgs) Kyle Price (84 kgs), Aelxia Sherland (80 kgs Girls) Marius Samson (47.5 kgs Cadet) Nicolae Grandrabura (55 kgs Cadet) and Ilie Dragoman (67 kgs bantam) while Jason Luneau (51 kgs Cadet) and Natael Cantin-Lebrun (61 kgs Cadet) won Silver at the competition.  From les Patriotes de St-Cesaire, Samuel Rainville won Silver at 67.5 kgs while Erin Rainville won Gold at Juvenile Girls 52 kgs.  Rounding out the results from Vanier College, Kaya Dube Snow (60 kgs Girls) and Alexandria Campbell (72 kgs Girls) both won Gold while Julien Choquette (84 kgs) and Jonathan Campagnolo (100 kgs) won Silver.  Congratulations to our Quebec athletes this past weekend.
