The Eden High school Invitational and the Quebec Open

Two tournaments took place this past weekend in which young Quebec athletes competed in.  The Eden High school Invitational held in St-Catherine's Ontario on Friday November 24th and the Quebec Open on Saturday November 25th at Riverdale High school in Pierrefonds Quebec.  The Montreal YMHA and Vanier College sent athletes to the some tournament on Friday and the results were as follows.

From the Montreal YMHA Nicolae Grandrabura (57 kgs) and Stone Lewis (61 kgs) won Gold Medals in their respective divisions with some dominating performances.  Jason Luneau took Silver at 57 kgs to round out the results from the Montreal YMHA.

The majority of the results came from the strong performances from the Quebec athletes from Vanier College as several Gold and Silver medals were won in various divisions.  Wrestling in the Girls Division, Erin Rainville won Gold at 58 kgs while Jayden Sparks won Silver in the same division.  At 68 kgs, Nataël Lebrun-Cantin, Julien Choquette (92 kgs) and Jonathan Campagnolo (130 kgs) won Gold in their divisions while Jaskaran Singh and Samuel Rainville took Gold and Silver at 72 kgs.

The Quebec Open welcomed athletes from acroos Quebec, the Maritimes, Ontario the United States and even British Columbia.  The Quebec Open is one of the Quebec's oldest and most recognized tournament for wrestlers who are aged Junior and lower.  The competition was stronger than it has been in many years as the variety of athletes and clubs helped to enhance the level of competition.  Many clubs and high schools competed on Saturday, which usually marks the beginning of the high school season in Quebec.
