Results from the 2018 Canada-East Wrestling Festival

The Canada-East Wrestling Festival took place this past weekend in Charlottetown PEI.  The tournament features younger age groups (with the oldest being the Bantams) from the Eastern provinces of Canada (Ontario, Quebec, Newfoundland, New Brunswick, Nova Scotian and of course PEI) and is designed to simulate a Canadian National Championships.  CLIC, KSS and les Patriotes de St-Cesaire sent athletes to the tournament with some strong results.

CLIC came away with a clean sweep as Nicolas Lescadre won Gold at 33 kgs Kids division while Laurence Lescadres also won Gold at 48 kgs Bantam Girls.

KSS brought 7 wrestlers to compete and the results were very good.  In the Kids division Noah Norton won a a Silver Medal at 65.5 kgs while in the Bantam Boys Division Dylan Standup placed 4th at 55.9 kgs and Atsenhanonha (Steven) Horn placed 5th.

In the Bantam Girls division, Yakotatahusatat McComber (38.8 kgs) won a Gold Medal while finishing off in the Silver Medal postions were Sara White (43.9 kgs) and Kya Hemlock (76.4 kgs).  Rounding out the results for the Bantam Girls was Sabrina Montour (49.9 kgs) who placed 4th. In addition to this, the KSS Bantam Girls tied for 3rd place over all in the Bantam Girls Championships.

Finally, for les Patriotes de St-Cesaire, in the Novice Division (Boys and Girls), Jérémy Préfontaine (31.7 kg) and Éléonore Lacasse (29.95 kgs) both won Gold Medals in their respective division while in the Kids Division (Boys and Girls), Salomon Lacasse (38.1 kgs) took home Gold while finishing off with Bronze Medals were Ézékiel Germain (36.6 kg), Gabriel Massé (41.5 kgs) and Rose Forgues (42.6 kgs).  Finally in the Bantam Boys Division, Cazian Comeau-Elman (33 kgs), Nathan Rainville (38.8 kgs), Jacob Jutras (45 kgs) and Émile Forgues (74.6 kgs) all won Gold Medals in their respective divisions while Nathan Germain (50.9 kgs) and Isaac Lacasse (62.1 kgs) finished off in the Bronze Medal postion.

To cap off a strong showing from les Patriotes de St-Cesaire, the team finished off as the Best Bantam Boys Team for the Eastern Canadian Championships! Congratulations to KSS and les Patriotes de St-Cesaire for their strong performances this past weekend.
