Results from the Matteo Pellicone Tournament 2018 (Seniors)

The Seniors would take to the mat on the following day.  The Montreal YMHA would send a strong group to the competition, represented by Samuel Barmish, Alex Moore and Frederique Choquette on the Men's side and Jade Dufour, Laurence Beauregard and Amanda Savard representing the women.

In the 79 kgs category, Sam Barmish would lose a close match to his Canadian opponent by a score of 10-11 and would not advance to the repechage.   At 86 kgs, Alex Moore cruise through the preliminaries quite easily, including a victory over U23 World Silver Medalist Uri Kalashnikov (ISR) by a score of 6-2.  Alex would win his semi-final match before losing to Jang Woo Min of South Korea by cradle to take the Silver Medal.  At the 125 kgs division, Frederique Choquette would win his final match in the round robin in the last minute versus Ki Yeon Jun by a score of 4-3 to win the Gold Medal.

Wrestling in the Senior Women’s 53 kgs division, Jade Dufour would also compete in a round robin, beating all her opponents except for Francesca Mori (ITA) whom she would lose to by a score of 10-8 to finish off in second place.  Wrestling for Gold at 59 kgs, Laurence Beauregard would win a decisive victory over Sara Tribulin of Slovenia by a score of 10-0 to win Gold while Amanda Savard (68 kgs) would wrestle a tough round robin, finishing off with a Bronze Medal.  Congratulations to all our Senior athletes for a hard fought tournament at the Matteo Pellicone Tournament!
