The passing of Dave Canadian

It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Dave Canadian this morning.  Dave Canadian, the long-time coach of KSS, member of the NAIG in many different capacities, referee and Vice-President of the FLOQ had been battling with Scleroderma in the lungs for a while.

Dave had been involved with the North American Indigenous Games movement first as a coach, later as chef de Mission to team Eastern Door and the North and in 2014 as President of the North American Indigenous Games in Regina.  His other accomplishments include winning 17 GMAA Championships for KSS as a coach while also leading Team Kahnawake/Eastern Door and the North to four NAIG Wrestling Team Championships

Though retired from active coaching as well as executive functions in recent years, Dave remained an active supporter of wrestling in his community, most notably travelling to Windsor in 2017 to support the KSS wrestlers at the Cadet-Juvenile Nationals.  The wrestling community in Quebec has lost a valued member of its community and we offer our condolences to Dave, his family and the wrestling community in Kahnawake.
