The Junior Pan American Championships was held in Fortaleza brazil from August 17th to the 19th.  Aly Barghout from the Montreal YMHA was Quebec's only representative, wrestling at 125 kgs.  It should also be noted that Aly is the only returning medalist from the Canadian contingent, having won a Silver Medal at last year's competition.  Accompanied by Coach Martine Dugrenier, wrestling took place on Friday to Sunday with most of the Freestyle taking place on Sunday.  Aly's first match pitted him against Marcos Carrozzino of Brazil in which he would win by a comfortable margin via Technical Fall (10-0).  Aly's next match would have him lose a close match by Decision (7-4) to the eventual Champion Anthony Lawr Cassioppi from the United States.  Aly's next match would be against Jose Rodrigo Diaz Ponciano of Guatemala which he would also win via Technical Fall (10-0).  Aly's last match of the day in his Round Robin against Andrew Jeffr Gunning Alegre of Peru would determine whether he would finish in the Silver or Bronze medal spot.  After a tense match, Aly would win via Decision by a score of 4-1 and equal his result from last year with a Silver Medal.  Congratulations Aly on your fine performance!
