The U-23 Senior World Championships took place in the Romanian city of Bucharest from November 12th to the 18th.  The U-23 World Championships is a fairly recent incarnation designed to allow promising younger Senior wrestlers the ability to shine.  Quebec had three representatives going this year from the Montreal YMHA.  Alex Moore wrestling at 86 kg, Laurence Beauregard (59 kg) and Alexia Sherland (68 kg) left with coach Victor Zilberman.

Laurence Beauregard would begin the tournament on Wednesday November 14th against Madina Bakbergneova from Kazakhstan.  Laurence would start the match well, scoring the first two points but would eventually lose the match by points (8-3) and would not advance to the repechage.

Alexia Sherland's tournament would begin well as she would beat Suman Suman of India via Fall from a hipsag in the first round.  Alexia would then run into a tough opponent from China. Alexia would lose to Chuying Tang by Technical Superiority and Tang would lose to Cuba in her next match.  As result Alexia would not advance to the Repechage.

Congratulations to our Quebec women who represented our province at the U-23 World Champions.  The results weren't there but next time will surely be better.
