Two days of competition

Quebec sent athletes to two different tournaments this past weekend as Quebec clubs competed in the Bishop Ryan Early Bird and the Quebec Open. The Montreal YMHA and Vanier College sent athletes to the Bishop Ryan Early while the Quebec Open saw very good numbers as many Ontario clubs, including a club from PEI made their way to Pierrefonds on the weekend.

The Bishop Ryan Early Bird

At the Bishop Ryan Early Bird, wrestling for the Montreal YMHA, Junior Iordache (57.5 kg), Jason Luneau (61 kg), Stone Lewis (67.5 kg) and Antonio Iordache (72 kg) all took Gold medals in their respective divisions while Sarah Black (59 kg) took home a Silver medal. Finishing off with a Bronze medal was Nolan O'Rourke at 67.5 kg.

Wrestling for Vanier College, Elijah Davis (95 kg) and Erin Rainville (59 kg) both won Gold while Natael Lebrun- Cantin (67.5 kg) and Samuel Rainville (72 kg) took Silver and Bronze in their respective categories.

The Quebec Open

The Quebec Open this year was a challenging tournament as many Ontario Clubs as well as a club from PEI brought many athletes, with many of the Quebec clubs participating as well. CLIC, KSS, Kanienkeha Tehontatatie:nas Wrestling Club, Massey Vanier, the Montreal YMHA, Triton Wrestling Club, Vanier College, Vincent Massey Collegiate and of course the Riverdale Wrestling Club were all present to compete with wrestlers from Ontario, some coming from as far as Windsor. Quebec clubs acquitted themselves well, winning many medals for the day.
