Great results from the Western Open 2019

The last weekend of January ended with a massive showing by Quebec clubs at the Univeristy of Western Ontario Invitational on Sunday January 27th.  Concordia University, the Montreal YMHA and Vanier College sent wrestlers to London Ontario to compete at the tournament with some excellent results.

From Concordia University, there were a slew of Gold Medals as Kaleigh Prieur (48 kg), Jade Dufour (51 kg), Laurence Beauregard (59 kg), Amanda Savard (67 kg), Sam Barmish (82 kg) and Alex Moore (90 kg) all won Gold Medals in their respective divisions.  Finishing off with Silver Medals from Concordia were Kaya Dubé-Snow (51 kg) and Geneviève Lamarche (72 kg) while Dajinder Singh took bronze at 68 kg.

Winning Gold medals for the Montreal YMHA were Jayd Davis (55 kg), Linda Morais (63 kg), Scott Schiller (65 kg), Vince De Marinis (68 kg), Guseyn Ruslanzada (74 kg), Jeremy Poirier (100 kg) and Aly Barghout (125 kg).  Finishing with Silver medals were Sophie Leboeuf (63 kg) and Gabriel Choueke (61 kg) while Virgine Gascon took Bronze at 55 kg.

Finally to round out the results from Vanier College, Brayden Todd won Gold at 61 kg while Alexia Sherland was second at 67 kg.  These are excellent results to close out the month of January and especially good for our Concordia athletes heading into the U-Sport Nationals.  A congratulations has to go out to all our Quebec athletes this weekend on a job well done.
