The two first tournaments for the month of February

Two tournaments took place on Friday February 8th and Saturday February 9th to start off the month. On Friday, CLIC, the Montreal YMHA and Vanier College sent athletes to compete at the Hillfield High School Tournament with some impressive results. From CLIC, Christopher Merlo (51 kg) and Thomas Rizk (89 kg) both won Gold medals while Bilel Mahfoudhi placed second at 83 kg. For the Montreal YMHA, Junior Iordache (61 kg) won Gold while Florin Gabriel Vasile (64 kg) took a Bronze medal. Finally, to round out the results from Vanier College, Nataël Lebrun-Cantin (67.5 kg), Samuel Rainville (72 kg) and Elijah Davis (89 kg) all won Gold medals in their respective divisions.

The Norm Bujold Rumble

The Norm Bujold Rumble, held in Renfrew Ontario saw athletes from the Montreal YMHA, les Patriotes de St-Cesaire and the Riverdale Wrestling Club come to compete in the annual tournament. From the Montreal YMHA wretling in the Open Boys division, James Levitt took Bronze at 51 kg while Dima Vitko was 4th at 61 kg. Finally Youssef Barghout won Gold at 130 kg.

Nathan Rainville

Wrestling for the Patriotes de St-Cesaire in the Tykes division Loïc Rainville won Gold at 29 kg Maëlie Rainville won Silver at 25 kg. In the Novice division, Camille Préfontaine (25 kg), Ionas Priftakis (30 kg) and Malik Ostiguy (41 kg) all won Gold in their respective divisions while Éléonore Lacasse placed second at 33 kg. In the Kids division Jérémy Préfontaine (Gold at 34 kg), Étienne Fortier (Silver at 42 kg), Ézékiel Germain (38 kg) and Raphaël Sonier (4th at 50 kg) were the top placers while in the Bantam division Nathan Rainville (47.5 kg) and Rose Forgues (46 kg) won Gold while Justin Fortier (47.5 kg), Anthony Boileau-laroche (56 kg) and Lestate Germain (41 kg) took home Silver medals. Finally in the Bantam division Jacob Turcotte won Bronze at 41 kg. In the Cadet division Isaac Lacasse (67.5 kg), Yann Heymug (72 kg) and Émile Forgues (83 kg) all won Gold while Nathan Germain was second at 57.5 kg. Finally in the Juvenile division, Olivier Paré won Gold at 61 kg.

Finally from the Riverdale Wrestling Club Junior Shiphwrat placed 5th at 61 kg Open Boys. Congratulations to all our Quebec athletes this weekend in Renfrew.
