This weekend also featured the Festival des Patriotes tournament in which wrestlers lower age divisions got a taste of what it was like to compete at the Provincial Championships, which were the last two tournaments for the month.  The tournaments were held at École Secondaire Pierre Germain Ostiguy on Saturday and Sunday respectively.  The Provincial Championships were of particular importance as participation would put your name for a chance to compete at the National Championships.  Multiple clubs and high schools came to compete, and though the numbers were smaller than in previous years, there was nevertheless a strong tournament.

Festival des Patriotes

The Festival des Patriotes featured some of the best youth wrestlers from across the province.  The tournament is meant to serve as a Provincials for the younger age groups and hopefully encourage them to continue on in the sport.

The Provincial Championships

The Provincial Championships were held Sunday February 24th.  With the exception of Concordia and KSS, the majority of Quebec lcubs came out to the tournament hoping to punch their ticket to their respective National Championships as participation in the Provincials put you in the running to go to Nationals.  The competition saw some intense matches, in all age groups with athletes being pushed to their limits in order to get the win.  In the end, the tournament did not dissapoint and special thank you needs to be issued to Dominique Choquette for hosting another great tournament.
