Day 1 from the 2019 Pan-American Championships

The Pan-American Championships began in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Quebec was well represented on this day as Laurence Beauregard (59 kg) of Concordia University and Jayd Davis (55 kg) from the Montreal YMHA took to the mat. The competition was fierce but in the end Laurence would end up beating Andribeth Belliard of Puerto Rico by Technical Superiority to improve on her Silver Medal performance from last year. Jayd Davis would overcome a tough start to finish off strong by beating Elis Azerrad Parodi of Argentina, also by Technical Superiority to take home a Silver medal. The rest of the Quebec contingent will compete in the following days but for now a congratulations has to go to our Quebec athletes for their strong start!
