Final day of competition at the 2019 Matteo Pellicone

The final day of competition at the international ranking tournament, the Matteo Pellicone, saw the men take to the mat in a stacked competition.  Many stars on the international circuit such as former World medalist Frank Chamizo of Italy and former World Junior Champion Khetag Tsabolov of Russia were just some of the athletes to feature.  Our Quebec men were well represented with 2018 U-23 World Championship 5th placer Alex Moore, 2019 Senior Canadian National athletes, Vincent De Marinis (Silver Medal, 65 kg) Aly Bargout (Bronze Medal, 125 kg) and Fréderique Choquette (4th place, 125 kg).  After a tough day of competition, Aly Bargout and Fréderique Choquette would face off in an all Canadian Bronze Medal final to secure the second medal of the competition for Canada.  The match was intense but in the end, Fréderique Choquette would emerge with a 3-0 victory over Aly Bargout to win Bronze at the tournament.

In addition to this, Coach Victor Zilberman and longtime supporter George Reinitz would receive special commendations from the tournament organizers for their patronage of the tournament.  Congratulations to all our Quebec athletes who competed hard over these last couple of days!
