Based on the results at the Canadian National Championships and the Non-Olympic Weight Class Trials held this past weekend in Calgary, the following Quebec wrestlers have qualified to represent Canada at the upcoming international events being held this Summer and Fall, 2019

PAN AM GAMES – Lima, Peru, Aug. 7-10, 2019

Alex Moore – 86 kg                             Jordie Steen – 97 kg

 

JR. WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS – Tallinn, Estonia, Aug. 12-18, 2019

Brayden Todd – 57 57 kg                 Virginie Gascon - 55 kg

Julien Choquette  - 92 kg 

Martine Dugrenier will be a member of the Coaching Staff

 

SENIOR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS – Kazakhstan, Sept. 14-22, 2019

Scott Schiller – 61 kg                         Jordie Steen – 97 kg

Alex Moore – 86 kg                             Linda Morais- 59 kg.  

David Zilberman will be a member of the Coaching Staff.

 

U-23 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS – Budapest, Hungary, Oct. 28-Nov. 3, 2019

Guysein Ruslanzada – 74 kg         Jade Dufour – 50 kg

Sam Barmish – 79 kg                         Amanda Savard – 65 kg

Aly Barrghout – HW                            Alexia Sherland – 68 kg

RESULTS OF SUMMER INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENTS TO DATE:

Jr. Pan Am Championships, June 5-7 in Guatemala.  

Bronze - Brayden Todd – 57 kg                      5th-  Julien Choquette – 92 kg

Bronze - Virginie Gascon – 55 kg

Coach: Martine Dugrenier

 

Cadet Pan Am Championships – Morella, Mexico, June 28-30.

Silver Medal: Stone Lewis (65 kg)

Coach: Mark Roache.

 

All the above athletes and coaches are part of the Montreal YMHA Wrestling Club/National Training Center.  It should be noted that Frederick and Julien Choquette are products of the Patriotes St. Cesaire club under Coach Dominque Choquette, and Amanda Savard a product of Coach Jason Chen.

All of the above athletes and coaches, with the exception of Alex Moore, and Jordie Steen, and coaches Martine Dugrenier and David Zilberman coaching at the World Championships who are funded by WCL, have self-funded these events along support from their Club without any contribution from the Quebec Wrestling Federation or National Wrestling Association.

Congratulations to the Quebec Coaches and Wrestlers for such outstanding accomplishments.
