At the 2019 World Championships, Quebec was well represented on the Men's side as Scott Schiller (61 kg), Vincent De Marinis (70 kg), Alex Moore (86 kg) and Jordan Steen (97 kg), competing for the Montreal YMHA took to the mat in the hopes of qualifying an Olympic berth for our country.
Up first in a Non-Olympic weight, Vincent De Marinis would face off against a tough opponent from the United States, James Malcolm Green. Vincent would wrestle well, but end up losing the match and would not advance.

The rest of our Quebec athletes would wrestle well but also come up short in this qualifying year. Scott Schiller (61 kg) would wrestle a close match (6-4) to Mihai Esanu of Moldova and would not move on.

Alex Moore (86 kg) would wrestle strong match versus Fatih Erdin of Turkey in one of the strongest and most wide open weight categories. Despite taking a lead, Alex would lose on points (7-2), despite also wrestling a very strong match.

Our last Quebec athlete to compete Was Jordan Steen (97 kg), competing in another strong division which included former Olympic Champions Kyle Snyder and Abulrashid Sadulaev. Jordan would wrestle against Erik Sven Thiele of Germany of Germany but would just fall short on points (6-0)

Our Quebec athletes competed hard and while the results weren't what we had hoped for, our wrestlers still will have another chance to qualify for the Olympics. In moving forward, the level of competitiveness of our athletes must be commended and hopefully will serve them better next time.
