The 2023 Canadian Team Trials and National Championships

The Canadian Trials and the National Championships for their respective teams took place on March 9th to the 12th in Waterloo Ontario. Various Cadets, Juniors, Seniors and Greco-Roman wrestlers went to compete and qualify their place for their upcoming continental and World Championships.

The clubs from Quebec that sent athletes to the Cadet Team Trials were Montreal Wrestling Club NTC, the Patriotes de St-Cesaire and the Riverdale Wrestling Club. Though small in numbers, the tournament was pretty competitive.

Despite some setbacks, Quebec athletes acquitted themselves well as the results were the following:

The Junior National Championships

For the Junior National Championships, Quebec Clubs were once again in full force on the following day. CLIC, Montreal Wrestling Club NTC, the Patriotes de St-Cesaire and Tritton Performance Wrestling Club all had wrestlers compete in the event with some strong results.

In addition to this, for his incredible performance in an older age group, Nathan Rainville was selected as the Outstanding Wrestler for the competition! Congratulations to all our athletes for qualifying for their respective National Teams!

The Senior National Championships

The Senior National Championships was the showcase event for our Quebec Wrestlers. CLIC, Montreal Wrestling Club NTC and Tritton Performance Wrestling Club all sent wrestlers to the event with some very good results on both the men and women’s side.

The results for the teams involved were the following:

The standout for our Quebec wrestlers would have to have been Connor Church as he won the Senior Division at 79 kg to add to his Junior National Title as Quebec wrestlers won all their matches in the Gold Medal Finals! Congratulations to our Quebec Wrestlers who competed this weekend!

The Greco-Roman National Championships

For the final day of competition, athletes from Tritton Performance Wrestling Club took part in the Junior and Senior Greco-Roman event. The tournament was small but featured a slew of experienced athletes with international experience. The results from the Tournament were the following:
