Three athletes from Quebec were in attendance at this year’s U17 Cadet Pan Am Championships held this year in Mexico City, Mexico. Rose Lacoste from the Patriotes de St-Cesaire wrestling at 69 kg were accompanied by Beatrice Galaise (73 kg) and Cruz Lewis (60 kg) from Heritage Regional High School.

The tournament would begin on Friday with the Girls competition as Rose and Beatrice would take to the mat. Both girls would wrestle against tough opponents from the various countries with Beatrice finishing off her final opponent, Bruna De Souza Azeredo from Brazil by pin to take a Bronze Medal at her first Pan Am Championships.

On Saturday, Cruz would begin in the quarter-finals with a 6-3 win over Tristan James Foreman Mendez of Costa Rica. Cruz would lose in the semi-final to Yandro Omar Soto Rivera of Puerto Rico and head off to the Bronze Medal final where he would win convincingly against Lucas De Oliveira Silva of Brazil by Technical Superiority (10-0).
