The 2026 Senior World Championships were held in Astana, Kazakhstan from October 24th to November 1st. Quebec’s lone representative was Laurence Beauregard of the Montreal Wrestling Club NTC. Accompanied by Coach David Zilberman, Laurence would look to build upon her finish from last year where she took a Bronze Medal at the WW 59 kg division.

Laurence’s tournament would begin on Thursday October 29th versus Manisha of India. The match would be close going into the second round, with the score being 1-0 to her opponent. Laurence would make a critical error and would lose the match via Pin (5-2). Laurence would advance to the Repechage where she would have a chance to repeat her results from last year. Her opponent would be Bolortuya Khurelkuu of Mongolia.

Laurence would start the match off strong, but would eventually lose by Points (8-5) and would be eliminated from the tournament. To repeat as a World Medalist is a difficult feat, and Laurence should be congratulated on the fact that she was still competitive at a difficult weight.
